Way to put it right out there, Solomon.

Happy Feast of St. Polycarp!

mawk-say, baby

mox•ie
     1: energy, pep
     2: courage, determination
     3: know-how

When someone has moxie, dey gawt it. By it, I mean it. When they walk into the room, you know it. When they have something to say, you know it. When they have something they believe strongly in, you know it.

The moxie girl is the confident girl. The moxie guy's got serious swag goin' on. The moxie people have what we all wish we had.

I challenge you to have some fo shizzle moxie. Seriously. Even if you don't have moxie, pretend like you do and it will come. Have moxie to share your faith and what you strongly care about. Walk with confidence and be daring. Be bold and live strongly for what you believe in, because you are beloved. That is something to have moxie about.

The antique ad for the soft drink Moxie, however, is a different story. Don't look too long; the eyes may bore canyons deeply into the depths of your soul.

pope-ular

I was reading this great LifeTeen article about our future pope, and it got me thinking... What do I pray for in the next pope?

I'm thinking a youth-minded pope (like Papa B) would be awesome. Or one that I could relate to. Or one that is easy to understand... sometimes the papal homilies go WAY over my head (maybe that means I should pray for more wisdom instead.)

Pray for our future Vicar. Maybe you could try this one, from the article!

O God,
eternal shepherd, who govern your flock with unfailing care,
grant in your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for your Church
who will please you by his holiness
and to show us watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

On a completely unrelated note; Catholic humor.
Happy Wednesday!

Sundays in Lent are mini-Easters?

Happy Sunday! May I suggest reflecting on today's readings at Any Given Sunday Project?

You Are Mine. Mother Angelica like.

do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
come and follow me
I will bring you home
I love you, and you are mine.

Case and point.
  • He won't leave me.
  • He has a plan for me.
  • If I follow said plan, my life will satisfy me beyond my own feeble dreams
  • HE LOVES ME, AND I AM HIS.
Yup. I like simple.
Gotta love good Mass music!

POPE BENNY!

¡Está es el juventud del Papa!
#JMJ2011

Lightning strikes the Vatican the very day Papa Benny announces his resignation? Hm, not sure what the Catholic Church officially makes of this coincidence (or lack thereof).
One thing we can be sure of is how awesome our pope is.

We will now profusely inundate the reader with preposterously papal pictures.

Sombrero.

The holiness! Jesus likes this man. A lot.

Pope Benny and his main homeslice.

You're welcome.

OH WAIT. Speaking of popes (and awesome)... watch John Paul the Great, autotuned. Chills!
HOW AWESOME IS IT TO BE CATHOLIC?

Dear perfectionists,

Rabbi Abraham L. Feinberg's
10 Spiritual Tonics
  1. Stop worrying. Worry kills life.
  2. Begin each day with a prayer. It will arm your soul.
  3. Control appetite. Over-indulgence clogs body and mind,
  4. Accept your limitations…
  5. Don’t envy. It wastes time and energy.
  6. Have faith in people. Cynicism sours the disposition.
  7. Find a hobby. It will relax your nerves.
  8. Read a book a week to stimulate imagination and broaden your views.
  9. Spend some time alone for the peace of solitude and silence.
  10. Try to want what you have, instead of spending your strength trying to get what you want.
Happy Lent! To all the ruminating readers obsessing over how to perfectly transform your life by impulsively taking on 12098234908 sacrifices for Lent, STOP. You won't get better. Maybe Jesus is trying to tell you something. ;)

Stop trying so hard. Stop thinking so much. STOP WORRYING. WORRYING KILLS LIFE. Stop trying to make it better. Stop trying to muscle your way into a perfect life. Stop, and just let Him love you. He's very, very good at what He does.

Enjoy. ;)
